Viola's father is overheard to say in a bragging contest that his daughter can weave straw into gold. Word gets back to the King, and he makes poor Viola prove that what her father said is true. After three magical visits by a strange little man, a great deal of straw is woven into gold, and Viola is wed to handsome Prince Reginald. But the story doesn't end there...
